Tooth Enamel Experiment

To promote healthy living we had a whole week to learn about how to take care of our teeth.  We learned that we should brush at least twice a day, in circular motions, and to eat foods without a lot of sugar.  To see how sugar is bad for us we showed two eggs to represent as our white teeth.  Then, set one egg in water and the other in soda.  See below the results of when they sit over night in both liquids.

Delta Dental Program- Land of Smiles

Today, the Delta Dental Program came to our school and performed the "Land of Smiles". This show focused on promoting good dental health. It featured the Tooth Wizard and his enemy Plaque Man. Our whole class received Healthy Smile Kits for attending filled with dental tools.

Brush, Brush, Brush Your Teeth

Yesterday, we practiced brushing! We used a piece of yellow paper with a tooth on it, white paint to symbolize tooth paste, and a tooth brush and brushed the tooth till it turned white. Brushing makes a difference! Practice good dental health at home with your child.

Tooth Subtraction

This week we learned all about teeth and dental health. We were also introduced to subtraction and played a tooth subtraction activity.
Here's how the activity worked:

  1. Each student received a piece of paper with a child on it with ten teeth.
  2. If the subtraction problem was 10-2, the student would color in 2 teeth & count the remaining teeth left in the smile.
This activity made us laugh at some of the silly smiles we were forming :)
