Last week, we did a celery stalk experiment! This experiment showed us how the plant drinks and absorbs the water. As you can tell our celery stalk drank plenty of water since the first day, we had marked the level of the cup. We also chose to use red and blue water to show how the water travels from the roots up to the leaves. By the end of the experiment we were shocked to see the color of our celery stalk!

My Little Sprout House: Lima Beans
In class, we have been observing growth in our sprout houses. In each house we are growing lima beans. This is a simple project that can be done at home by putting a wet paper towel and lima bean in a ziplock bag. We have enjoyed watching our seeds change from day to day!

Days of the Week Activity
This week in phonics we worked with the days of the week. We work with the days of the week each day in class, but this was to review the order. Our class read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and made a flip chart of what the caterpillar ate each day!
Library Field Trip
Kindergarten had a wonderful time at the library! Our walk over was beautiful! While at the library we met the librarian Mr.Tony. Mr. Tony read us a book and taught us about how a library is used. He also told us about the summer reading program that the library will be offering!

Dissolving Peep Experiment
This week we did a dissolving Peep experiment. We put Peeps in 5 different liquids and observed which liquid would dissolve it the fastest!
We put the Peeps in laundry detergent, apple juice, vinegar, water, and soda. After the first 3 hours, we already saw a small difference in the Peeps. The Peep in the soda had turned completely brown, which was a great opportunity to touch on again how unhealthy soda is for us. The 2nd day of the experiment the Peep in the vinegar had already started dissolving.
We were a little grossed out with the smell and the feeling of the results, but we loved observing the peeps everyday. The vinegar dissolved so much we barely could get it out of the cup!
2nd Grade Wax Museum
Today, we went upstairs to visit Ms.Golubski's 2nd grade class. The students had put on a Wax Museum presentation. Each child was responsible to portray a famous American and share a little bit about themselves and their history. K-C was starstruck by all the famous people we saw today!
