National Teddy Bear Day & Teddy Bear Picnic

On Friday, all Kindergarten celebrated National Teddy Bear day. Most of our class brought bears, but we also had many other stuffed animals join our classroom for the day! We learned about bears all week leading up to our Teddy Bear Picnic. Unfortunately, due to the weather we had our picnic in our classroom while watching Goldilocks and the Three Bears.  Several bears won prizes and we followed bear tracks into school.

Gummy Bear Experiment

This past week we studied bears in honor of National Teddy Bear Day. Our gummy bear experiment was inspired from this theme :) We took 4 gummy bears and placed them in a cup of vinegar, water, baking soda, and salt water. We discussed what we thought may happen. Many of us thought the gummy bears would completely dissolve. To our surprise when they were soaked in water they got BIGGER! Check out our results below!

Reading Logs

Reading Logs
The Kindergarten Team is excited to introduce Reading Logs! Beginning the week of November 3rd, students will be expected to read for an hour per week. Students may read independently or be read to. It is recommended that you use a mixture of both. Students may color in a box for every 10 minutes read and parents must sign the log after the hour is complete.  Reading logs will be checked every Monday.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to develop good homework habits for our students as they get ready for first grade!

Classroom Halloween Party

Thank you so much to all the parents that made our classroom Halloween party possible! Our class had a great time dancing in our costumes and enjoying Halloween treats

Problem Solving Skills

This week in social studies we worked on problem solving skills and what to do if a problem may arise. We focused on situations that could happen at school, on the playground, or even at home.
We introduced "The Wheel of Choices" and how it could help us in many situations. Ask your child about the wheel of choices at home and see how they can apply it in their life.

We also learned the FIGHT song which suggests different problem strategies to apply if another child does not want to play with you at recess.
